My goal for this project is to provide engaging STEM challenges for all students in grades K-5. This project includes STEM sets for engineering learning stations. Groups will rotate through the learning stations for about 8-10 weeks, then complete engineering projects.
The students will learn and practice the engineering design process as they rotate through stations.
The marble run sets, magnetic tiles, three little pigs STEM sets, and bee bots will each have their own challenges for upper and lower grade levels. The bee bots will be used for coding challenges. The marble runs will be used for understanding gravity and transporting marbles to start and end locations with more complex challenges for upper grades such as jumps or drops and specific distances with limited materials. The magnatiles will be used for structural engineering challenges. Students will build, test, and improve houses for the 3 little pigs.
The aluminum foil, cups, and balloons will be used for several weeks of engineering projects. The projects include designing a paper roller coaster to transform potential energy into kinetic energy, building and testing balloon rockets, and engineering a shade structure to keep things cool. The stations and projects are designed around NGSS Engineering standards. These STEM sets will provide engaging lessons and learning stations for many years to come!
