This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My JV Football Players are some of the greatest kids on the planet. I have been fortunate enough to teach and coach in the greatest city in the world (NYC) and all these kids want to do is better themselves and play football together. We have become a very tight knit family and are as close as any team can possibly get. A lot of the kids cannot afford cleats or quality athletic gear but it does not stop them from getting better everyday, on and off the field.

Most of the kids I coach have grown up quickly at a very young age.

They pick up their younger siblings before and after practice, because they have been tasked with that responsibility. They have to be very mature at a young age but yet still have that commitment and drive to play football.

I have never been more proud to coach a group of young individuals that I am at my school. All I want to do is make these kids experience the best it can possibly be, and so far, we have been able to provide that for them.

My Project

First off, all we have for a first aid kit is a tiny plastic box with some band-aids and gauze. All of the speed training equipment we have is old and obsolete, and when we do train on ladders, the kids love it! But we only have one and we need more. The white board will help teach the kids of why and how we are supposed to block, because right now, I have to either air draw it on my chest or hand. Also, the armbands will help my players with IEP's remember the plays so that they can be as productive as possible on the field and not lose confidence. All of these items will be put to use right away and will be used with love!
