My Students

Our school is considered a Title I school, serving students in grades Pre-K through fifth. My third grade students are very diverse. Some of them come from various ethnic backgrounds, some come from single family homes, living in poverty-level conditions. Some have learning disabilities, and some are gifted academically.

My students deserve the absolute best there is to offer, yet often times are exposed to the worst.

I strive to provide them with the best learning opportunities, so that they can learn in ways that best fit their needs. I hope that you choose to partner with our class to help me make that happen!

My Project

Each of my students have a book bucket that contains books that are on their current reading level. With the addition of these leveled nonfiction texts, students will be able to pick and read books on their level, and add them to their book buckets.

This exposure to nonfiction text will help develop my students as readers, and better prepare them for state testing in the spring.

These text sets will also improve Lexile Levels, as well as their confidence levels as readers. Most of my students are working below grade level, yet they show interest in nonfiction text. I would love to foster a love of reading through texts that interest them.
