My Students

My students are autistic and range in age from five to ten years old. They receive special instruction in small classrooms (6:1:1), along with related services throughout the school day, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and counseling.

My students have delays in gross/fine motor coordination, and spatial/visual problem solving, which can affect their performance with academic tasks (using classroom tools and materials), activities of daily living (dressing, feeding, hygiene), and participation in physical education and play activities.

Many of them have difficulty attending for extended periods of time and many demonstrate sensory-seeking behaviors.

My Project

These basic materials are just some of the items that my students will need in order to be successful this school year. They will help us stay organized and well-stocked so that we will always be ready to work! We will use these materials during our occupational therapy sessions in school as well as at home, in the event that we return to remote learning. My students will be working on improving their fine-motor skills and doing a lot of hands-on activities which require child-friendly materials. We can't wait to begin!
