Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located on the lower-economic side of town. 99% of our students are of low income and, unfortunately, we do have a couple that are labeled as homeless. Even though these students face these hardships daily, they are also very hard-working children with many aspiring dreams and goals. They pose a great value towards education and give no excuses when asked to give it their all and work toward their goals.

My students have a lot of potential to be the great leaders of tomorrow.

Some of them may not even have their parents' support because of harsh situations, but they do come in every day to school ready to learn and be a better person every day. They come in the classroom and try very hard to leave their issues behind and start off the day in a positive way ready to learn and get closer to reaching their dreams!

My Project

Flexible seating options are something that I wish I would've had when I was in school. Being in a comfortable position has proven to improve concentration and have successful learning. Nowadays, many students are diagnosed with ADHD and focus issues. Having this comfy chair option available for my students will help them have a more positive learning experience as well as a higher enthusiasm to come to school every day. Since it will be part of our classroom library, it will spark an enthusiasm for reading in every student. This will definitely help them have a better learning experience and be more successful in everyday learning. Their learning will be more personalized and they will be better prepared to be our future leaders.

The homeless factors in our school are a big disadvantage for our students because they have limited access to supplies and accommodations.

Since these kids come from low income households or simply don't have a home, they come in to school everyday with limited resources, supplies, and experiences. Having these resources available in my classroom is a big inspiration to them because they know that they at least have something to count on when they come to school. Having this flexible seating option in my classroom also helps them feel more "at home" and therefore strive to reach their goals.
