My Students

My students enjoy reading at home and as a way to keep them reading, I send home a book report each month. Our school doesn't have a library so sometimes I'm their only source for books.

Our school is a Charter school in the inner city of Buffalo, New York.

It is a school that lacks resources. There aren't enough funds to buy the books we need. The children are amazing and they love to read because I make it fun for them. They are so grateful for little things and this would mean a lot.

My Project

We need to put a new face lift on our classroom library. I think these new books will help. They have thumbed through the few books we have and they deserve more books. They read at least three times a day. I allow them to read when they have completed seatwork and they love it! They're becoming excellent readers because of it.

When I was a little girl, reading was a way to take me to places I couldn't go.

I would love my children to experience that as they begin to grow. Some children aren't able to visit their local libraries so I want to bring a library to them.
