My Students

"Every child deserves the same education as the next." As a teacher this is the quote that I teach with everyday. I want all my students to succeed in reading, writing, listening and participating. The one challenge is that some children with special needs need an extra helping hand.

In my ELA classroom there is a growing special education population.

They participate, hands raised with enthusiasm to answer the question that was just asked, and they listen with intent, trying to understand the content that is being presented. They are treated all the same. The beauty of my schools is that if you walked into any classroom, you would not be able to tell who is the special ed student vs the general ed student. Teachers in my school are proud of this vision that has been established, creating an environment where all students are truly treated equally.

My Project

Some students need assistive technology to help them with their writing skills. As the population of special needs grow in my classroom. An assistive technology device would work wonders for them. Not only will the Chromebook help with writing and publish their stories, essays and poetry but it will create confidence and pride in their work.

By having one laptop in the classroom, students will be able to publish their work for all to admire and see.

Students that need help with written work or help with research on a topic will be able to find the ease by using a laptop. With enough stress in their lives, written work will not be a task, rather an educational enjoyment.
