My Students

Our school community contains a diverse array of students whose backgrounds and needs are as unique as the families and cultures that proudly support them. We are a school community that is extremely rich in pride, strong in support, and filled with a passion to succeed.

As our school community continues to grow, our classroom continues to be a place where a high degree of emphasis is placed on engaging, innovative, meaningful, and relevant learning.

Each year, I am so proud of the maturity that my students develop when it comes to their learning and personal growth as young adults. It is truly a passion of mine to offer the supplies, resources, and technology that will allow my students to gain the knowledge as well as practice the skills needed for success in their future college and career journeys.

I remain thankful for the support of citizen donors as well as corporate sponsors/foundations who continue to impact our classroom and transform it in inspiring ways!

My Project

"Just Mercy" by Bryan Stevenson is a significant piece of nonfiction literature that must be included in classrooms across the world! Not only does it explore systemic racism, but it also reveals in detail how the justice system can be used as a means of oppression and subjugation.

It's a piece of literature that guides all readers, young and old, through a confrontation with critically important topics such as racism and injustice while also providing comfort with the knowledge that there are people like Mr. Stevenson who is for fighting for equality, equity, and justice within the judicial system.

There is great value in having "Just Mercy" available for students, particularly with the current climate brought about by the pandemic, protests, election, and other issues and conflicts that all converge to provide an unsettling time for students.

During the second semester, we typically focus on "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee and it is critically important to me to have "Just Mercy" by Bryan Stevenson available as a companion text so that our classroom can, among other discussions, explore Harper Lee's judicial system and Bryan Stevenson's judicial system within their respective time-periods.
