This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are second graders living in the projects of New York City. A day in the life of my ICT students involves them teaching each other and working together. I, as their teacher, want to do my very best to make their year in second grade their most successful yet.

They come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and mostly Spanish speaking or bilingual homes.

They come to school eager to learn and explore new things. They love experiencing new texts and authors during interactive read-alouds, but our supply of books just isn't what it should be to capture their interests and keep the engaged

My Project

Our amazing second grade students were chosen to participate in a swim program! Our second graders are going to become the best swimmers out there, who knows they may one day end up in the olympics. This is an amazing opportunity they have been given, however without the proper equipment they will be unable to participate in the program.

Most of our students come from low income families and lack the basic school supplies.

They need swim goggles and swim caps to participate in the program and many do not have the money to buy these for themselves. Please help our students by providing them with the materials they need to participate in this wonderful opportunity they were given!
