My Project
I am requesting fidgets for my students. Fidgets allow my students to concentrate better on what they are doing, keeping their hands busy while their brains can stay focused. I work with special needs kids. Giving them something at their desk makes a huge difference.
My kids are amazingly resilient.
They all are special needs for emotional/social/behavioral disorders. Most of them come from low socio-economic backgrounds. They struggle to learn in a regular classroom environment, so are at our school, which is a day treatment center.
Despite all of the hardships these kids have already dealt with, they keep trying. They are learning coping skills as well as academic skills. They all try so hard, and anything I can give them to make that a little bit easier for them is a gift.
