Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Federico Fellini said that "A different language is a different vision of life." I would like to give my students the opportunity to become more well-rounded individuals with the ability to have more than one perspective of the world we live in. Studying a foreign language can provide this.

Our student body is extremely diverse, both culturally and academically.

The one thing all the students have in common is that they each chose to attend this high school out of a list of 425 schools. Although we do not have an entrance exam, our students compete with those that do on many levels, including attendance records and regents scores. Our students want to come to school and like being here. Being a school focused on careers in hospitality, I believe it is extremely important to emphasize the importance of foreign culture and language.

My Project

After nearly two years of learning from home, our students are back in school, and believe it or not, are so excited to be here! In order to support them in their return to normalcy, we are starting a club where the students can come and explore their imagination through incredible creative projects in a calm, safe, yet social environment among friends and teachers who support them.

Clubs and after-school programs can support social, emotional, cognitive, and academic development, reduce risky behaviors, promote physical health, and provide a safe and supportive environment for children and youth.
