Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The middle school students at our school enjoy a culture of strong academics, sports, sciences, and arts. They either live in the neighborhood or travel from far and wide to be a part of our Magnet Program. While more than half of the students in our classes are receiving free and reduced lunch, all of them show a sincere desire to learn. The transitional year into middle school for most sixth graders can be a challenging one which is one of the reasons a few innovative educators developed i-SoLa.

The i-SoLa program is an integrated approach to teaching Language Arts concepts (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) by using primary and secondary sources found in the Social Studies (American History) curriculum.

By combining the two subjects, students will reach a deeper level of depth in both subjects. The students in this program will develop a skill set to become critical thinkers and lifelong learners.

My Project

Junior Scholastic is a magazine I'd like to get for every student in my class. Each issue covers important current events with engaging and age-appropriate articles I know your child will be excited to read.

In every issue, we will read and write about national and international news events, developing the critical-thinking and analytical skills your child will need in school and beyond.

Students and families will also receive access to the Junior Scholastic website, featuring news videos and fun educational activities. Your help in making this valuable resource a part of your child's education is appreciated. Thank you for your continued support.
