About My Students

The scholars that will benefit from this project will be the schools dance team members. The overal GPA of the team is 3.2. For many of them this is the first time being a part of a team. In just one year the dance team was able to participate in an Elite International Dance Championship in Florida. The members of the dance team worked hard and it paid off. They were named the Elite International Dance Champs. This year the dance team wants to go back and defend the title.

My scholars have been able to view life differently by joining the dance team. Many of the dance members had never been on a team let alone know how it feels to be winners. In just a year with good grades, hard work and determination they were competing with teams that had years of experience. This teaches them with teamwork and focus anything is possible. The dance team members learn how to balance academics along with extra-curricular work ethic. This project will continue to build upon the skills they have so they will be able to keep the hope/faith that with hard work and dedication anything is possible.

In Their Own Words

The goal we want to accomplish with this project is uniformity. Most of the teams we compete against have really good jumps and as a team they all look good. With this trampoline we will be able to practice jumps and build confidence. We know that is one of our weaknesses.

We will lead by example. Showing others in our school and community that we can succeed and be successful in anything. Last year many doubted us. At our school we only have one sports team and we are the team that everyone looks to. We performed at community events and it would be good to go back and show that we have improved as a team.

This project is important to our school and its community because Foundations College Prep is a public 6-12 school, serving Chicago’s Greater Roseland community. We are able to go outside of our community and know there is something besides what we see daily. This project will help us compete with those that have resources.
