My Students

My second graders are well-behaved in the classroom. However, they often wander off and find it difficult to stay in one assigned area to play sports. Most of them find the assigned play area too boring. My goal is to increase my students' interest in fun and engaging fitness activities.

I work with eager second graders who would enjoy engaging physical activities such as jumping double dutch ropes and swirling with hoops.

Our inner city school is located in the heart of an extremely diverse community. We are a Title 1 school and 100% of our students are on the federal free meal plan. Many students arrive to school at 7:00 a.m. and stay after school until 6:00 p.m. Our school is their home away from home.

My Project

I would like to give and show my students an opportunity to have fun while exercising their body and mind during recess and beyond. With the jump ropes and the hoops, I can show my students that recess time can be so much fun if they learn how to properly turn and jump double dutch ropes and do hula hoops with a friend or a group of friends. For many students, having fun during recess and before and after school might be the reason to come school. Having fun while improving one's physical fitness and health with building friendship is one of our school's major challenges. With the proper equipment and proper lessons and encouragement, my students will inspire other students by engaging in these fun and highly physical fitness activities. Research shows that positive experiences with physical activities set the stage for students to be engaged and focused in other academic subjects.

The double dutch jump ropes and hoops will enhance my students' fitness stamina and inspire their peers to participate in these fun and highly active games that are both important and vital to their young bodies and minds.

Hula hoops and double dutch jump ropes will enable more students to participate in active fitness games while building friendship. Please donate and help us make a lifelong impact on the health of our students.
