My students need more reasons to visit our Media Center. With a Nintendo Wii gaming system, 2 games, 3 remotes, and a storage and tv stand, students can have fun and learn at the same time!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
State of Art Media Center, MORE THAN BOOKS! The newest and latest Media Centers are equipped with tablets, eBooks and gaming systems. We want to continue to draw in students of all ages to our schools Media Center.
Our school is a Title I school with approximately 420 students.
Our students range from Low to Middle income. The majority of our students are new to this country or have parents that are new the United States. The school was built in 50's and has very little technological resources. As the Media Specialist I want to encourage students to use technology and highlight some the fantastic titles we have available in our Media Center. Most of our students love to read and come to the library at least twice a week. I need these students to share some of their favorite books with school, and in turn encourage other to read.
My Project
With the materials requested students will be able to move and jump for joy in the media center. Technology is everywhere unfortunately not all our students have access to it. The Nintendo Wii will have several games to get our little students moving and develop coordination. With games like Just Dance and Wii Sports students can burn off some energy exercise and once they are done check out a book.
The Media Center is the hub of school and I would love to attract all students.
Some students believe the Media Center is just for books but it is not. I want to attract students by giving them the opportunity to use computers, iPad, tablets and gaming systems such as the Wii. It will change students views on what a media center is and should be.
