Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Music and performing arts bring people from all walks of life together over the common bond of emotional expression. Most of our students are diverse refugees and immigrants, speaking over 25 different languages, including Spanish, Burmese, Nepali, Somali, Swahili, and Arabic. These kids are often overlooked and forgotten, but this performance will be a huge confidence booster and will remind them that they are important and have many things to offer.

Because our students come from all over the world and have diverse cultural backgrounds, when they are singing and acting together, they are able to connect with each other.

In addition to performing and creating art together, this performance will give our students the emotional outlet that they really need.

My Project

We need stage make-up and costume supplies to transform our students into the characters of The Lion King. The utilization of these materials will serve as an effective gateway to the Pridelands through musical theater and imagination. These materials will contribute to the overall goal of creating accessible art that our school, community, and families can experience and enjoy.

Creating visualizations of these characters will allow these students to gain experiences in performing arts while also learning to relate to others.

All of our students will carry these experiences throughout their life in every scenario, giving them growth and emotional intelligence. The make-up and costumes we are requesting will elevate this theatrical experience in a way that will resonate with both performers and audience members.
