Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Nintendo switch console and games are a great tool to use as a coping resource as well as a reinforcement for my students with specials needs. Students can have difficulty with frustration, anger, and anxiety related to their academic, personal, and social life. Having small breaks to play with peers when students are experiencing negative thoughts or feelings can serve as a reinforcement and improve their mental wellbeing. Playing multiplayer games such as Big Brain can encourage positive peer relationships in a fun and educational way. In turn, this can lead to an increase in socialization and participation which can improve overall mental health.

My students with special needs benefit greatly from play-based strategies.

Using technology and games, especially during moments of stress can positively improve the negative feelings and emotions for my students with disabilities. As for the stapler, this will assist in creating books and journals for the students to keep their writing organized in a more efficient way.

My plan is for them to create their own mental health journals where they write about their mental state. They can also include coping strategies that they are using as well as positive drawings to help express themselves and address various mental health topics. My overall goal is for my students to be able to learn coping strategies through fun and creative methods.
