This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have finally realized how important it is to journal and how important deeply annotating a text is for full understanding. We all remember that moment when some instruction an adult was giving us finally clicked and that moment of, "Oh, that is why you do that," occurred. I am requesting journals so that I can incorporate daily writing prompts into my AP World History, AP Seminar, Law, and Global History classes.

There is a tremendous amount going on in the world and students are relying on technology more and more, much to their detriment.

Writing and deeply annotating are tried and true methods that allow students time to process their thoughts, articulate ideas, and thoughtfully analyze texts. This mini-grant will allow our students the mechanisms to strengthen their perseverance and learn a mindfulness skill that will support their lives.
