My Project

My students love to read fun. They enjoy participating in our classroom book club. My students need new novels to add to our classroom library.

My students need new novels and storybooks that support inclusion and diversity.

They need to be able to read stories that reflect their experiences, their background and their culture. At the same time, they will read about other backgrounds and cultures. My students will read these new novels as part of our class "book club" and through discussion and guided novel study my students will make "text to real life" connections helping them to develop a better understanding of those who may be different from them but also to understand the similarities we all share. Students will give oral reports relaying what they have learned. Through these guided opportunities, my students will develop a better understanding, appreciation, and empathy toward others.
