My Students

I am so excited to be preparing for my first year as a classroom teacher! At our school, and our classroom especially, we will promote and celebrate diversity. Room 22 will have students of diverse backgrounds, students with various learning needs, and a handful of different personalities. I was lucky enough to student teach at my new home and create relationships with students and coworkers that will allow me to thrive in my first year. These are just a few of the numerous reasons I love my school and the students that hold such a special place in my heart.

These students count on me everyday, so I am asking if I can count on you for support!

In order to have a successful year in fifth grade, many materials will need to be purchased to make this classroom become our home and a safe space for successful learning. As a first year teacher, funds are low and I am just getting started with setting up and getting the creative juices flowing to make my dream become reality.

My Project

I am implementing flexible seating in my classroom, which is a technique allowing students to choose furniture other than a typical desk and chair. For example, I am looking to buy stools for higher table seating as an option. I also have some low seating tables, so the cushions on my list will be a seating option as well! Students will be able to choose their seating based on their personal needs and wants. Allowing them to make a choice can be empowering for a students confidence. Furniture can really begin to add up when purchasing for over twenty students.

In order to have a successful year in fifth grade, many materials will need to be purchased to make this classroom become our home and a safe space for successful learning.

There is a large amount of furniture I am needing to bring my dream classroom to life. The lamps and additional lighting I am requesting will allow students with sensory issues or those who prefer a more dim setting to work in a space that is comfortable for them. I have added some organizational pieces that can help me to stay organized and provide a space for small materials around the room. The vacuum will help us keep out space clean and tidy. Students will be given jobs weekly, and using the vacuum will be one of them. Being provided the funds to create a learning environment that EXCITES students (and makes me aesthetically happy) would be a dream come true!

The many different needs will cover various bases of my first classroom. Academic, social, emotional, and physical learning needs are just a few ways in which this project will benefit my sweet students! Thank you for your time!
