My students need instruments for performance opportunities, especially the cajon, which will be appealing for the boys in my classes!

My Students

I teach in rural Nevada. The school I am at is 100% free breakfast/lunch program. A large portion of my school is hispanic, with many of them being second language learners. My school is preK-5, but I only see K-5. We have over 500 students attending our school. I have had the privilege of teaching music to them for 11 years now, after spending 16 years in the regular education program.

I am so excited to see what Donors Choose can do for my music program, since I receive no annual budget for my class.

My Project

My students will use the jingle bells for performances, especially adding that delightful sound as they dance with the jingles on their ankles. The cajon box will be a great addition to our percussion collection, adding a new sound. By providing these new instruments, the students at my school will find joy and pleasure in performing. Their parents will also be able to see all they are learning in music as the students share their musical skills in performance. Jingle bells are fun and the cajon is a brand new instrument in our music classroom. They will make our experiences deeper!
