My Project

Jewelry class is an intricate and rigorous art form that gives students an opportunity to apply design concepts to wearable pieces of art. Due to the very nature of jewelry materials, students are asked continuously problem solve while they adapt and modify their plans; a skill that is invaluable throughout their lives.

We use a number of sophisticated tools and materials while creating our projects.

The tools on this list will be used during all of metalsmithing projects. Metalsmithing involves cutting, filing, drilling and polishing metals into a design. Students create pendants, rings, earring, bracelets and more with metal.

One useful tool on our list is a Dremel. A Dremel is a power tool that allows us to drill, file and polish metal. A student’s successful mastery of this advanced tool provides for greater confidence in their own ability to safely and competently complete a complex task.. Again, giving students real world experience that is transferable to other academic pursuits as well as all areas of their lives.

Currently, many of the tools we have in our classroom are very old and have been scavenged over the years for parts and pieces. Some are broken and no longer perform like the should. Your donation will allow us to update our tools and restock our supplies.
