My Project

In my music room I service a variety of different grade levels from Kindergarten to 8th grade, all who have a variety of learning needs! With my younger students we move a lot around the room, they learn through singing games and body percussion or breaking into small groups for centers. My older students benefit from being in circle or an arc to better hear each other sing and play. With a rug we can not only make our classroom a comforting space to learn in but also a functional one!

Having a classroom rug will help us have a place to gather during instruction (the lines and spaces of the staff will make great assigned seats!), help us to form circles and squares for games, and give us a comfy space for our story times.

The classroom rug will also help us to practice treble clef and solfege through the use of the large staff. My older students will benefit from the carpet as it will help soften the sound in the space that can so quickly get overwhelming for my students will sensory sensitivities.
