Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach at PS 100 which is located in New York City. We are a Title One school with over 80% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. I am currently teaching first grade. They are a very eager and interested group of students despite the many risk factors that they have had to overcome in their young lives. I am seeking funding for personal books for each child. We are exploring the unique world of becoming publishers. Our school has recently implemented the Lucy Caukins Writing Project. The children are having such a wonderful time learning how to become writers. We have been researching different ways to make books and publish their stories. A personal binded book for each child in which they could write their own published story would make each first graders dream of becoming a publisher come true. If there is anyone who can can help my students by providing funding for these personal books, we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you and have a great day.
