My Students

"THANK YOU!" That's the the best thing a teacher can hear from a student or parent. And I have heard that phrase many times from the families at our school. Our school is a small school, serving pre-kindergarten to 5th grade students. The school continues to grow each year because our students and their families are committed to our school and want to see it thrive. They are happy to be there.

Our school's positive culture is often praised by teachers, parents, and community members alike.

Being an urban school presents unique challenges, and it is the positive behavior and attitudes of the students and their families that allow us to overcome these challenges.

The teachers at our school are committed to their students, often spending their own time and money to make things extra special, including everything from starting a soccer team to buying books as rewards. The teachers work as a team, striving to increase student achievement and to prepare our students for middle school, high school, college, and beyond.

My Project

My students need reading materials with an authentic focus on non-fiction. Our students will use these materials to explore their reading abilities. They will be engaged and inspired through the journalism found in the magazines that is tailored to their age group. These magazines will be used during Learning Center times throughout the day as we read and write while learning together. They will be able to use these magazines for pleasure reading, whatever sparks their curiosities.

Additionally, Time for Kids encourages students to read analytically and engage in discussion with peers.

In order for students to be college and career ready, it is important that they learn at a young age how to be global citizens.

Your generous donation will change our students' lives for the better. They will love school and feel in touch with the outside world. Time for Kids will improve our 3rd grade classroom by helping me in building stronger readers and writers.
