Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are an affiliated charter school with an emphasis on technology, as well as performing and visual arts. My students come from a wide range of backgrounds. Many are local kids living near our beautiful school by the coast.

Other families apply to attend via a lottery process and commute from areas such as East and South L.A.

to provide their child with a high-quality public school education. I also have a small international community including families from Australia, England, India, and Russia each year.

My Project

In this day and age, many students are not exposed to magazines and newspapers. Time for Kids will give them an opportunity to use a magazine-style format to practice reading skills. In addition, the Time for Kids subscription includes online/digital resources for both the teacher and the students.

My kids will access this curriculum via magazines and digital resources on their iPads.

It's important for kids to read "news" on a regular basis to make this a lifelong habit. The weekly issues have seasonal topics and real-life information about the world around them. This will supplement my language arts and social studies curriculum.
