My Project

I have been teaching special education for the past ten years. I enjoy the ability to be able to teach a small group of students and watch them grow in academics and social and emotional development. I enjoy special education so much that even when I am away from my students, I am still finding additional ways to learn more about them. While the learning may never stop, I am almost at the end of my graduate program which has a focus on Early Literacy Intervention. With only two courses left, it's almost time to invite my students to my graduation!

I would like to enroll in a virtual Independent Study course that will allow me to research schools in my district utilizing coteaching models in inclusion classrooms.

My research topic is centered around producing equitable outcomes for students with disabilities in inclusion classes. So, with one of my professors, we will virtually discuss and synthesize our notes to create action steps on Zoom. We will then develop a pilot program for implementing a collaborative model within my school for inclusion. In order for this to occur and to meet the requirements of my program, I have to enroll in this Independent Study course which begins in July.

I have a great support system of family and colleagues. But my number one supporters have been my students. Hopefully, you can help us cross the finish line together by helping me to enroll in this virtual course!
