My Project

Being a teacher for almost 15 years now, I know that the best way for kids to understand various science concepts is for them to actually experience it for themselves. Students don't have the capacity to sit all day at a desk. They need to be up and moving. I want to make an environment that allows students to create and learn and know that it is okay to make mistakes. I believe I can create this for our school with some support.

The world of science is amazing and I want to bring this world into my students' hands by creating engaging STEM lessons.

These supplies will help support various science lessons. For example, Lionfish are an invasive species especially in Florida. Students will use the building supplies to build a humane trap for the lionfish and test it out in a small pool to see if it would work out.

Students will also learn about kinetic and potential energy. They can use various materials to build a roller coaster and test out the speed at which a marble runs through it. They will calculate the speed and then alter their roller coaster to see if they can get their marble to run through it faster.

The possibilities are endless as long as I have materials on hand to do them. By implementing STEM into the curriculum, students will not only learn science standards but also have fun while doing it. My students need brain games, magnetic blocks, play dough, crayons, colors, craft sticks, construction paper, and more. Science is mind-blowing!
