My Students

I work in a Title I NYC school. Title I schools are in high need areas. The students at my school face many struggles both inside and outside of the classroom, yet they are resilient and eager to learn. As an Occupational Therapist (OT), I service students with special needs ranging from autism spectrum disorder to ADHD, sensory processing disorder, dysgraphia, and learning disabilities. This project was created to help our students cope with their emotional, physical, motor, and sensory needs. My goal is to provide students with the resources they need to enhance their participation and independence throughout the school environment.

My Project

This project brings snacks to our children that are both remote and in person to keep their minds focused and their little tummies full. Hunger distracts from learning, but having snacks will help them focus and have success in their school work. This project will also touch the hearts of our students that think we have forgotten about them somehow since we are not able to physically see them. In addition, those whose parents have opted out of services because of time, space at home, ability to do so, and emotional distress.
