Help me give my students a sewing machine, needles, and thread so that they can learn the skill of sewing!

My Project

"Sew, a needle-pulling thread!" It won't just be part of the lyrics to a song--my students will actually learn to sew! They love creating crafts and have already been exposed to textile art such as weaving with yarn on looms and beadwork with pony bead bracelets, all the while making connections to Native American culture. We've also explored geometry with string art and fractions with fuse beads. Our next step will be to learn to sew.

Developing their sewing skills will not only be an important life skill for my students but will also be put to good use as part of a service project with Project Linus, providing hand-sewn blankets to children in need.

Sewing will help my students develop patience and perseverance during the sewing process. They will also practice problem-solving skills as they fix any mistakes that they may encounter. The art of sewing also fosters creativity and confidence as they see their work taking shape. Let's get sewing!
