My Project

Imagine relaxing on the beach and feeling the sand between your hands and toes. Doesn't this bring you to a peaceful and calming place? Sandboxes are used in many pre-kindergarten and kindergarten schools and in some classrooms, to give students a way to connect with nature while engaging in hands-on, tactile fun. A sandbox filled with kinetic sand would be a great item to place in a calming spot in my pre-kindergarten/kindergarten office. This would be the perfect object my students who have a hard time calming down or de-escalating can use to help them relax and/or to calm big emotions.

By helping me fund project, "sand"sational, my students will have a tool they can use to reduce stress and anxiety by allowing them to engage in sand play, while promoting mindfulness and strengthening their overall sense of well-being.

In addition, the sandbox can be used to help encourage cooperative play, a social skill that is an important part of childhood development. My pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students would love to use the sandbox as a calming place to go to whenever they are having problems controlling negative emotions or self-regulating. Please give us the opportunity to expand our calming area by funding the sandbox and kinetic sand we need to use for self-regulating. Thank you in advance for giving us a chance to enjoy having a "sand" sational time at our school!
