Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a social worker who was raised in the South Bronx; I have first hand experience of what my kids go through. I work in an elementary school in the South Bronx with predominantly Black and Brown students who face a variety of challenges that can impact their emotional well-being. Many of these students struggle with managing their emotions, especially when it comes to stress, trauma, and other difficult life situations. That’s why this project is so important.

By providing students with coping skills materials, such as emotion cards, mindfulness tools, and emotional regulation resources, we can empower them to better understand and manage their feelings in healthy ways.

These materials will support both individual and group activities that teach essential life skills—helping students build resilience, practice self-care, and create a more positive school environment for themselves and their peers.

Your donation will help provide these young learners with the tools they need to feel safe expressing themselves and develop coping strategies that will benefit them for years to come. Together, we can show these kids that it’s okay to have strong feelings—and it’s even better to know how to manage them.
