Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students sometimes have strong feelings and they need safe spaces to calm down. We want to provide students with age appropriate children's books about emotions and toys to help them calm down. Once they manage their feeling they will be ready to focus on learning.

I am collaborating with our Psychiatric Social Worker to create calming areas for our students in grades TK to 5th grade at our Community School.

The goal of this project is to teach students to identify their feelings and to learn how to manage them in a healthy manner. We want them to learn strategies so they can have good socio-emotional health.
