Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
As first year teacher and a fresh graduate from Texas A&M University, I was very nervous to be a part of a school that was three times the size of my high school. It only was after my week of school that I knew these kids would be the reason I succeed as a teacher. They started off quiet, not knowing many of their classmates due to their freshman year being completely online, and very reserved. By the end of the week they were sharing their goals for the upcoming year and holding themselves accountable for the steps they needed to take. Students will come into my classroom with nothing but a pencil in hand and phone in their pocket, ready to learn.
We are an inner-city school with a passion for setting our students up for success, whether that be a college education or the workforce.
Many students already have a plan for how to take care of their families in the next couple years. The passion they have to provide for there families at such a young age is inspiring and gives them a determination I could only have imagined at their age.
My Project
This project will allow students to use different tools to model how to balance chemical equations. By using the colored cubes, they will be able to understand the law of conservation of mass and visualize the number of atoms on each side of the equation. They will make sense of the idea and discover the answer to the question, “How do you write a chemical equation so that the number and type of atoms on the reactant and product sides are balanced?”
This project will allow for differentiation in the classroom and give students the opportunity to problem solve as well as explore chemical equations.
