Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work with a large culturally and linguistically diverse group of amazing learners, which includes TK-2nd grade levels. Our classroom environment is warm, welcoming, and student-friendly. My students are an amazing group of individuals with various abilities. Our classroom is full of students who are ready to learn and put forth great effort.

I would love to add some new book titles for the lunar new year.

Learning about the Lunar New Year will expose my students to traditions from various cultures and foster respect and understanding of different customs, helping my students appreciate the diversity of the world. The blending boards are a great hands-on tool that will help my students practice blending sounds into words. It will teach students how to decode and encode words by blending phonemes. The sound wall will help my students understand the relationship between sounds and letters. It will support phonics skills by showing my students how sounds map to spellings. It will become a visual and tactile resource for my students to reference during reading and writing activities.

The UFLI Foundations book will provide structured lessons grounded in the Science of Reading for teaching foundational reading skills. The Velcro will be used to attach letter tiles to a mat which my students will use as another hands-on tool to make words.
