I teach science to all grades, K-5, at our small elementary school. The students come to the science lab once a week for 1 hour or more each visit. Our school has a wide range of students in its population. We serve neighborhood children, military families, and students from areas of higher poverty that ride the bus to our school by choice. We have a large percentage of free lunch students and many English language learners. While our elementary classrooms focus on all academic areas, my science lab is dedicated to the enrichment and enjoyment of science.

It's ALIVE! We are taking on an investigation of life science. In order to do this, we would love to have a diversified collection of classroom specimens to observe, compare, and care for. While we often spend a lot of time during this part of the year and life science unit in our "outdoor laboratory," we would really make this investigation come to life if we also had several classroom observation stations. This would be valuable to all grade levels, K-5.

In order to make science come ALIVE, we would like to set up a River Tank that incorporates plants, animals, and water to build a functioning ecosystem. In addition, we have several empty tanks that we would like to fill with a variety of critters for students to observe: a tarantula, tree frogs, and a leopard gecko will be fun to observe and learn about.

Your help and contribution will ensure that my science students will have many engaging and LIVE-ly opportunities.
