My students need 365 rolls of Packing Tape to create Packing Tape Street Art Sculptures and 36 rolls of Painters Tape to create linear perspective murals! It's a sticky job, but somebody's gotta do it!
We have an amazingly diverse student body at our Middle School. Our students love to come to school every day and for many of them, look back onto their middle school years as their favorite academic school years. Some common characteristics among our students include an appreciation for cultural diversity, an understanding of shared leadership, tech savviness, creative problem solving and global thinking. Our students work hard everyday and give up their spare time to give back to their local and global community through organizations like Project Linus, Operation Gratitude and Students Rebuild. Our students also demonstrate school pride through their involvement with extra curricular activities including sports teams and after school clubs like Magazine Club, Math Club and Engineering Club.
My students work very hard at school every day and look forward to their creative release once they step into the "Expressions" classroom.
My students attend "Expressions" every day and connect with their inner artist through the creative process! I hope to provide each student with a diverse "Artist Toolbox" to continue to challenge and engage their creative spirit!
My Project
My students love all things hands-on! Once students get their hands dirty through creating 2-d art and digital art, we want to ramp it up to the next level where they have authentic opportunities to apply their critical thinking, problem solving and collaborative skills. Having access to packing tape will allow for groups of 3 to create 30 Packing Tape Street Art Sculptures and discover the process of art installation. Having access to painters tape will allow for students to collaborate in the creation of 33- 7'X 7' Linear Perspective wall murals that will invite and engage our students to discuss math concepts and art. Both projects, Tape Sculpture and Tape Murals will help bring students together as they view and discuss public art. Art installations on campus really helps to cultivate a culture of community learners and trigger ongoing creativity!
