Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

By donating to my project you will allow our class to obtain high-interest books to pair with our unit on gothic literature. While we will be learning about gothic literature and examining short stories and poems together in class, these books would allow the students to read independently and discuss their reading in literature circle groups.

While these books may seem untraditional for high school students, the goal is to get them interested in what they are reading.

The skills and concepts we learn in class can be applied to any level or genre of text, so by providing them with books that are thought provoking and about something untraditional, as And Then There Were None and The Westing Game are, my hope is that they are drawn into the stories and that their curiosity to “solve” the mystery will motivate their reading.
