This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are a curious bunch! By far, our most popular books in the non-fiction area are about animals. Penguins, pandas, possums, or polar bears - we love it all! Many of our books about animals are old, battered, and outdated, and are in desperate need of a refresh.

By reading books they're interested in, kids build reading and critical thinking skills they lack due to learning loss from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our shopping list features books in the sections that need the most updates: endangered animals, zoos, pets, dinosaurs, and more. These books cover a variety of reading levels and feature great photos or illustrations to engage our readers.

With your help, we can get new, dynamic animal books in the hands of our students so they can learn about animals AND rebuild their reading skills!
