My Students

I am blessed to teach an incredible group of kids each year! These kids continually amaze me, year to year, despite the learning challenges they face daily. They are smart, caring, and hardworking! When I tell you they are incredible, that is an understatement! The majority of my sweet students struggle to learn, but refuse to give up! Our school is located in a low income area, where all of the students qualify for free meals.

My students will now start another school year with distance learning.

This is not an easy pill to swallow considering their diverse learning obstacles. My hope is to still be able to build a family with my students even though they are not physically with me. They know that in our class, they will learn even though it may look less traditional than most would imagine. I consider my students family, and we will continue to work diligently together to maintain this feeling in my classroom.

My Project

Like I’ve said, I truly feel blessed to work with children of different abilities but they do need to access the curriculum in different ways. The one constant my students have is an immeasurable desire to learn. Having an iPad (with a protective case) will allow my students tp prepare and project visuals, stories, pictures, and videos from the internet. We will also embark on a great biography adventure this year! I have requested books that will allow my students to study people with a similar heritage to their own. I'm hoping these updated and modern biographies will help them build confidence in both themselves and their community. Imagine being that 10 year old with a mind that has incredible questions but a brain that fights them when trying to learn. Every child deserves all that can possibly be done to help them learn to their highest abilities.
