My Students

I teach at a Title I K-8 span school in which all of our students receive free breakfast, lunch, and an after school meal. Our community consists of hard-working families who believe in the importance of education and support our school by volunteering, attending parent workshops, and donating school supplies as much as possible. My 25 energetic and motivated students come to school every day ready to do their best.

Together, we are working to build a classroom community full of empathy, perseverance, and independence.

As a school, our mission is to instill a love of learning, build character, and give students the necessary skills to pursue their dreams. Our students understand that in order to succeed, you have to put in the work. Awesome takes practice!

My Project

Allowing students the freedom to move around the classroom, find their own space to work, and choose from a variety of seating options encourages my students to become more independent thinkers. Currently students choose from the rug area, lap desks, stools, wobble cushions, bean bags, and desks of various heights during classroom activities.

The convertible benches that I have selected will provide yet another option for my students.

Students love having a variety of seating options. They learn to share the space, take turns, and take ownership of their learning. These benches could also be used by my taller students when we are meeting on the rug as a class. Sitting criss-cross on the carpet is not comfortable for my long-legged kiddos!
