My Students
Think back to when you were in school. Were you ever bullied? Did anyone ever say things that were hurtful to you? Bullying is a huge epidemic that needs to be dealt with proactively.
I teach a vibrant group of 4th grade students.
We live in an area which relies heavily on the success of the American auto industry. Many of my student's parents have lost their jobs and have been forced to reevaluate the direction of their careers. This all equates to a lot of sacrifice on the part of my students. Still, they have a zest for life that is indescribable. They are some of the most caring and compassionate people I have ever met.
My Project
Bullying is a problem in every school. The book I am requesting about bullying will help my students become more confident in the way they respond to bullies. The iPad will allow them to read electronic books about bullying, such as "ALOHA POTTER! Bullying and Teasing Children's Book," "The Bully Book," and, "Coping with Cliques: A Workbook to Help Girls Deal with Gossip, Put-Downs, Bullying, and Other Mean Behavior".
Fortunately, I have been blessed with some amazing students who are typically careful to consider what they say before they say it.
However, they are inevitably going to have to deal with bullying as they age. If they are not part of it, they will witness it. I want to equip them with the tools they need to be part of the solution, instead of part of the problem.
