Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It is time for my fifth graders to move on to middle school. The majority of them have been at this same elementary school since kindergarten. They are sad, nervous, and excited all at the same time, about going to middle school. Sad to leave their childhood school behind but nervous and excited to move onto what's next in middle school. My students have had ups and downs along the way but with the support of their parents combined with their own hard work and dedication, they have made it through these formative years.

It truly takes a village to raise a child and get them through school and it is right for students to acknowledge those that have helped them along the way and whom will need to continue to help them in the next stage that is middle school.

To commemorate this, I would like to purchase a stole for each of my students to wear on promotion day which they will then present to the grown-ups of their choosing that has been most involved, encouraging and supporting them throughout elementary school. They will write/draw on the stole, stories and memorable moments that occurred and mention the grown-up that has been most pivotal in their lives. In this way, the students and their families will acknowledge that the work that was begun, will continue. And, my students will also be going out in style, wearing these golden stoles. Thank you in advance for making this possible.
