My Students

In our classroom, we are a community of learners and leaders. All 50 of my students have the potential to make a real impact in this world. In an urban, inner-city school, like ours, many of our students cannot afford school supplies and the resources to take their learning to the next level. These students do, however, have the passion to achieve their dreams. In my class, we have future lawyers, teachers, doctors, musicians, sport athletes, and true leaders in our society.

These students are not only special, they are remarkable.

I wake up every morning excited about what the day will bring and not only what I will provide to my students, but also, what they will provide me in return. Laughter, smiles, and seeing the "awh ha" moments every single day, as they continue to battle against their weaker skills, to bridging the gaps in their learning and celebrating successes and accomplishments.

My Project

This project will bring engaging and excellent instructional resources to my classroom of eager 4th graders. TIME Magazine is an excellent tool for teachers like me to use to build reading skills through real-world topics.

In my classroom, Social Studies is integrated into Reading and Writing instruction.

Through this integration, having TIME magazines would take these learning experiences to the next level for my students. TIME magazines will make a difference to my students' learning by allowing them to have a unique and engaging learning experience where they can build background knowledge, apply skills, and share out their understandings in class discussions.
