This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you realize that classroom music opportunities enhance learning in many different ways? Music is a valuable medium that can support language development, vocabulary, reading fluency, and auditory skills. Music provides opportunities for choral and dance performances and helps to build a community of learners.
My class is made up of amazing, motivated, and diligent first graders with great pride in their efforts and accomplishments.
They attend school every day with purpose and a desire to learn something new. My students learn in an English/Spanish bilingual program. They attend a community school.
My Project
This iPod will be used to store and play the many CDs we have purchased over the years. It will allow students to be able to use the music, rhymes, and literature selections independently of the teacher without the fear of CD damage.
Students will be able to use the iPod with our listening center to listen to literature and songs in English and in Spanish. They will be able to read along with books or lyrics while developing a love of literature. We will also use the iPod for cross curricular whole class music, including content-based music, social studies connections, math, patriotic selections, literature, and English Language Development.
It will give auditory listeners more opportunities to incorporate music and literature into daily routines. We will use it to learn, practice and perform both choral and dance numbers. Furthermore, it will support music appreciation and help us continue to create a classroom community.
Please consider supporting the enthusiastic learners in my classroom who anxiously await more opportunities to work collaboratively and independently.
This iPod will benefit our first graders in using the music modality as an engaging way to learn, live, and prosper as great citizens in our learning community. Let them sing and dance!
