It Actually Is Rocket Science

Help me give my students the materials to explore motion, impulse and resistive forces with rocket science! Students will be using published impulse graphs and their knowledge to calculate max height and verify with the altimeters.

My Project

Students will build and launch rockets to complete their study of forces and momentum. Using published data for the rocket engines they will use their understanding of physics to predict the height the rockets will travel. Then after launch they can compare their theoretical to the altimeters on the rockets.

Let students beat the idiom, and get elbow deep in rocket science!

They'll be using the trust graph to find the rockets impulse, then calculating for the wind resistance that is slowing the rocket. Lastly finding the average force the rocket should experience to find the max height. Drawing out how the forces change at each rocket stage.
