My Students

A typical day in my classroom is anything but typical. We talk about issues facing many walks of life including conservation and the general welfare of animals.

My students come from very diverse backgrounds and reside in a very urban area of New York.

Every student at our school receives free lunch as well as breakfast in the mornings. We are a public school which focuses on wildlife and environmental education whenever possible. Students in my class partake in environmental science and as well as a wildlife conservation course. In our school we strive to help our students become globally aware citizens.

My Project

My students will use the requested book (Half Brother) in our unit revolving around animal testing and ethics. This book will help to give them a greater understanding of the issues surrounding animal testing and the ethics involved. It will also lead us in to discussions regarding cosmetic testing and animal testing for medical reasons.

The donations of this book will have a great impact on my classroom.

Having my students read Half Brother and discussing it as a class will really open their eyes to animal testing and make the issue more real to them. This book will help them connect to the issue on a much more personal level.
