My Students

Do you remember when you dissected a frog in class? I want all my students to learn from every dissection in zoology. The lessons we learn while studying anatomy will help them their entire lives.

I teach zoology to juniors and seniors.

My students are 16 to 18 years old in Oklahoma. They attend a large high school with a limited budget. The school can not afford anything for dissections to help the students understand anatomy. Many have caught fish and frogs in the childhood, but have no idea about their internal anatomy. None have my students have ever had experiences with starfish, so this model would greatly help them understand how a starfish body works.

My Project

Dissections are a very useful activity for students in zoology class. However, sometimes it is hard for them to know the difference between all the organs on dissection day. If we have these models, we will learn all the anatomy prior to the dissections and be able to review the anatomy multiple times after the dissection. You would be able to greatly increase their retention of the anatomy of fish, frogs, and starfish.

When students learn animal anatomy, it changes their understanding of their own anatomy.

When they are able to understand how a frog's lungs works, they are able to make the connection on how their lungs work. They learn where their kidneys are and what their functions are. If you fund my project it will greatly increase their understanding of animal systems and their functions.
