iPod for Portable Podcasting

My students need a 4th Gen. iPod to do mobile podcasting projects. The students need to be able to create podcasts on the fly and this is the perfect way to do it!

My Students

Do you remember what it was like when you first heard your voice on tape? You giggled but secretly, you just wanted to play the tape over and over again. We love to hear ourselves don't we? The iPod podcasting project will allow students to show what they know by creating voice recordings!

The students at our school do not have the benefit of being able to practice their listening and speaking skills to the extent that is needed for them to be college and career ready.

The majority of our students are receiving free or reduced lunch, meaning, their families do not have adequate financial means. Research shows that the more a student talks, the smarter they will get as their dendrites multiply!!

My Project

Students love to have an audience and the iPod mobile podcasting is the most simple answer to helping the students dig more deeply into the curriculum. In this project, students will be able to create mini radio shows about what they are learning in school or outside in their communities. The beauty of this project is that the new 4th generation iPod has a built in microphone so no additional software or hardware will be needed to make this project a success. Now, students can create their radio show from anywhere in the building so they can serve as reporters, or move around their classroom etc without any hardware/software restrictions.

Teachers will not long have to worry about whether their computers have sound cards, audio software, headphones, microphones etc!

This iPod 4th generation will take care of everything. I was inspired by Radio Wallop, a series of educational podcasts created by Tony Vincent, an edtech leader. His students sounded so smart by showing what they know on their radio shows! This has to be the easiest, most fun way for students to get more involved in their learning and they can do it with your help!
