My Students

My students are a bunch of six year-olds full of energy and eager to learn. Many of my students only receive learning at school, which is only about 7 hours a day. I want my students to be able to receive all the resources possible so that they can succeed. My classroom is not fully equipped with technology resources. Many of my students were highly affected by Hurricane Harvey but yet they still manage to come to school excited and eager to learn every day. Due to Hurricane Harvey, some of my students are displaced and are living in foster care, some of my students have been forced to move in with relatives, living in shelters, and are being raised by their grandparents, and older siblings. Many of my students' parents are high school drop outs and very young.

My Project

In my First Grade classroom we do a lot of hands-on, independent learning workstations with interactive learning. With the iPads that I am requesting, my students will be ready to engage in hands- on learning using technology. When students are done working independently or in small groups they will rotate using the iPads. The iPads will help the students to learn and shine in different areas of learning. Students will be able to take what they been working on that day and then apply that on the iPads. This will stretch their learning and apply higher order thinking skills.

My students love using technology.

A lot of my students don’t own a computer at home. With the iPads students will be able to get that extra instructional piece at school.
